City Municipal Services Break Room Modular Office

Washington, D.C.

The Challenge

The District of Columbia’s Office of Contracting and Procurement, on behalf of the Department of Public Works (DPW), was seeing a contractor to provide, outfit, deliver, and install a fully functional modular break room. The break room will support DPW Disposal operations located at the District’s Fort Totten Solid Waste Transfer Station. The break room modular was sited in a small grassy area, with limited space, adjacent to Fort Totten’s main building. DPW required an expedited delivery solution within 60 calendar days of contractor selection.

The Solution

DPW’s mission is to provide environmentally healthy municipal services that are both ecologically sound and cost effective by ensuring the cleanliness of the District’s residential neighborhoods, high-visibility commercial areas, gateway corridors and industrial zones through a combination of direct services, education, and enforcement. The new 12×40 modular break room was installed at Fort Totten will accommodate the overflow of staff and provide a more efficient operation. The project was completed on time and included appliances in the kitchen and a functional break room space. Prefabricated aluminum steps and ramps were installed for access.
