Covanta Modular Plant Office

Fairless Hills, PA

The Challenge

Covanta Metals, a leader in metal recycling needed office, lab and locker room space to support their team’s new location at the former US Steel Plant in PA. They needed over 5,600 sq ft of space to open the new location. Tradition construction was reviewed and it was determined that the offices wouldn’t be ready for occupancy in time. The site also provided challenges due to the new building location would have to be constructed over an existing train tracks that ran parallel to the plant. The delay would cost Covanta important revenue. Covanta contacted Modular Genius for a better solution using modular construction.

The Solution

Modular Genius developed a modular plant office campus that would provide separate buildings based on use, connecting them with aluminum platforms, steps, and ADA ramps. MGI developed a one of a kind foundation that would not require the client to remove the existing train tracks. Due to the tough conditions in the plant and in the modular laboratory, MGI recommended finishes that would handle tough conditions. Heat welded flooring, high rib steel siding, steel doors, FRP panels, and commercial grade showers are a few of the finishes used. Our client commented that they had worked with another national modular provider leasing mobile office trailers but selected MGI for this important project. “Modular Genius’s design/construction experience & communication was top notch throughout the project and we were very happy with project results”.
