Permanent Modular Office Building for MD SHA Weigh Station in Vienna

The Challenge

The Maryland State Highway Administration needed to replace an aging modular building at its Vienna, Maryland weigh station, one of four sites across the state slated for building replacements under the same statewide contract. The Vienna site presented a specific site work challenge: The existing unit had to come down, and a new building had to go up in a tight window, with electric and plumbing disconnected and reconnected.

The Solution

Modular Genius removed the existing unit at the Vienna site and installed a new 14×44 modular building in its place totaling 616 square feet. The building was set on ABS pads and block, with dirt and asphalt anchors and full skirting completed on site. Interior finishes included VCT flooring, central HVAC units, and a full restroom in the unit. Electric and plumbing were cut and reconnected as part of the scope. The completed building gave the Vienna site a fully functional replacement facility.
