Permanent Modular Office Building for MDOT Weigh Station
The Challenge
The Maryland Department of Transportation needed to replace two existing modular buildings at an active truck weigh and inspection station along Route 50 in Delmar, Maryland. The station operates in both directions, with a scale house on the southbound side and an inspection office on the northbound side, meaning two separate, purpose-specific buildings had to be delivered and installed at a functioning transportation facility without shutting down operations. The existing units were demolished, and the replacement buildings had to meet state of Maryland code requirements while fitting the operational demands of a high-traffic commercial vehicle inspection environment.
The Solution
Modular Genius furnished and installed two new modular buildings at the MDOT Truck Weigh and Inspection Station in Delmar, Maryland, totaling 1,400 square feet across two modular office buildings. One building is a 16×50 building featuring a bump-out to accommodate the functional requirements of a working scale operation. The second office is a 12×50 building designed to support day-to-day inspection staff. Both buildings include steps and ramps.
The result is two buildings that serve two distinct functions on opposite sides of a major highway corridor, each purpose-designed and built to the standards a state transportation agency requires.
