Relocated Modular Classrooms for Maryland Public Schools

The Challenge

Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) needed to quickly expand classroom space at an existing school to accommodate shifting student population demands. Rather than new construction, the district sought a cost-effective and efficient solution that would make use of existing resources without interrupting the academic calendar.

The Solution

Modular Genius relocated two 24’ x 36’ modular classroom buildings—totaling 1,728 square feet—from another PGCPS site for reuse at the new location. Each 864-square-foot unit was transported, reinstalled, and reconnected to utilities in full compliance with local and state building codes. The classrooms included HVAC systems, energy-efficient lighting, and durable interior finishes appropriate for daily educational use. This relocation approach allowed PGCPS to maximize the value of its modular assets while meeting immediate space needs quickly and with minimal disruption to school operations.
