Relocated Modular Classroom Complex
The Challenge
St. Mary’s County Public Schools required the relocation of a modular classroom building from Hollywood Elementary School to George Washington Carver Elementary School to meet space needs. The project involved dismantling a four-classroom building, transporting it to a new site, and reinstalling it with updated utility connections. The schedule was tight, and the scope included removal of an existing structure at Carver and compliance with local permit requirements for electrical and fire alarm systems.
The Solution
Modular Genius dismantled the modular classroom unit at Hollywood Elementary and transported it to the Carver Elementary site. The 3,520 sq. ft. building was installed, with existing ramps and steps being relocated and installed. Floor tiles and drop ceilings were seamed, and skirting was added. The building was reconnected to existing water and sewer, and new electrical service was provided to four 100-amp panels. Fire alarm and tele-data systems were tied into the school’s existing infrastructure using compatible devices. The project was completed on schedule and in compliance with all required permits.
