Modular Classroom Swing Space

Joppa, MD

The Challenge

Harford County Public Schools was in need of modular classrooms in Joppa, Maryland for a renovation to Joppatowne High School. The construction schedule allowed the installation of the modular building to commence after the end of school with occupancy August 2020. Modular Genius, Inc. was contracted by HCPS to provide a modular classroom complex that would house 8 classrooms with restrooms. The 7,260 sqft building was designed with a central corridor, classrooms on either side, boys and girls restrooms, and IT and janitor’s closet.

The Solution

Harford County Public Schools hired a separate contractor to grade and install a pad in front of the school. The modular building was installed using surface grade pads, piers, and anchors. Modular Genius, Inc. hired a site electrician for fire alarms and to make turn key connections to the modular building. The school district connected the modular to plumbing. Industry standard materials were utilized, including smart panel siding, low E windows, gypsum ceiling in classrooms, T Grid acoustical in the hallways, vinyl floor tile, and vinyl gypsum. The team effort created a nice learning environment for the students during the 24 month renovation.
