Relocatable Modular Classrooms for Special Education
The Challenge
Sheppard Pratt School in Glyndon, a nonpublic special education day school located in Reisterstown, Maryland, required additional classroom space to support its specialized educational programs. The school needed a fast, cost-effective solution that could be deployed on varying site conditions, including an asphalt parking lot and natural grass areas.
The Solution
To meet the school’s need for expanded learning space, three new 864 sq. ft. modular classroom buildings were installed, one placed on an asphalt parking lot and the remaining two on grass and dirt surfaces. Each building was designed to provide a comfortable and functional environment tailored for special education use, incorporating durable materials and finishes suited to daily classroom activity. The modular units were delivered and installed efficiently, minimizing disruption to the school’s operations. Site-specific foundations were used to accommodate the varying ground conditions, and all buildings were constructed to meet applicable state and local building codes for educational occupancies in Maryland. This project demonstrated the versatility of modular construction in adapting to different site types while providing high-quality, relocatable educational space.
