Covanta Modular Control Room

Fairless Hills, PA

The Challenge

Covanta Metals, a leader in metal recycling needed a control room to operate their machinery that support their team’s new location at the former US Steel Plant in PA. Traditional construction was reviewed and it was determined that it would disrupt their daily operations inside the plant and cost Covanta important revenue. The site also provided challenges due to modular building would be set on a steel platform 20’ above grade inside the facility. Covanta contacted Modular Genius for a better solution using modular construction.

The Solution

Modular Genius developed a permanent modular building control room that would be elevated 20’ above the factory floor, providing a continuous view of the operations and control the machinery. The modular control room was installed on a steel structure with a crane, meeting all code and safety requirements. Due to the tough conditions in the plant. MGI recommended industrial finishes for longevity. Heat welded flooring, high rib steel siding, steel doors are a few of the finishes used. Our client commented that they had worked with another national modular provider leasing mobile office trailers but selected MGI for this important project. “Modular Genius’s design/construction experience & communication was top notch throughout the project and we were very happy with project results”.
