Philadelphia Fire Department Training Expansion
The Challenge
The Philadelphia Fire Department required additional classroom and training space to support growing enrollment in its firefighter recruitment, cadet, and workforce development programs. With demand increasing for educational and training initiatives, the department needed a solution that could be delivered quickly while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations at its active training campus.
Complicating the project was the site’s constrained layout and limited access, which required careful planning and coordination to safely deliver and install the buildings within the available footprint.
The Solution
Modular Genius partnered with the Philadelphia Fire Department to provide a fast, cost-effective modular solution tailored to the department’s immediate training needs. Working closely with department personnel, MGI assisted with site planning, facility layout, and budget development to ensure the project aligned with operational requirements and available resources.
The solution included one new 24’ x 65’ modular classroom building and one refurbished 24’ x 60’ modular classroom building. Despite the challenges presented by the active campus and restricted site access, MGI utilized specialized transportation and setting equipment to successfully deliver and install both facilities.
From contract award to completion, delivery, installation, and associated site work were completed in less than 70 days, allowing the new classrooms to be operational in time to support scheduled firefighter recruit, cadet, and training programs. The additional space provided the Philadelphia Fire Department with the capacity needed to continue developing and training the next generation of first responders.
