Employee Spotlight – John Costas

Modular Genius is happy to welcome John Costas to our construction family!

How Long have you been in the Modular Industry and what roles have you held.
I started in the modular industry in 1989 with GE Capital Modular Space where I worked for 16 years.  During my time at GECMS, I held positions of Technical Services Manager, Major Project Sales Manager, Director of Construction and VP of Construction for North American.  I left GECMS and joined the ModSpace team where I was the Director of Construction focusing on Design/Build projects.  I recently joined Modular Genius in the role of Director of Estimating and Pre-Construction.  In my position I will support the company’s mission by managing the estimating and preconstruction department working with the MGI team, customers, vendors/subcontractors to successfully win projects and ensuring seamless execution with the Project Management team.

Favorite/Most Interesting Project
I worked with so many customers and projects over the years that it would be difficult to select one.  But one at the top of the list was with the US Army Corps of Engineers at Ft. Stewart on a Design/Build barracks and company operations project that was total of 400K SF and had to be manufactured, delivered and installed in 120 days.  At the completion of the project the General in charge indicated that not since WWII did a construction project get delivered in such an aggressive timeframe.  That experience gained on that project provided the road map to how our team would successfully deliver many other future challenging projects.

Hobbies
When I’m not focused on work I like fishing, boating, relaxing at the beach, target shooting, watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles with my wife of 33 years and my 2 grown sons.
