Prefabricated structures and buildings are extremely popular because they’re quick to build, flexible, extremely cost effective, and will solve your urgent space needs.
Modular Genius, headquartered in Joppa, Maryland, provides a design-to-occupancy turnkey modular solution for nearly any conceivable application. With a complete team of designers, engineers, project managers and field superintendents, we can serve as general contractor and take your project from concept to completion.
We design, build, and install award-winning modular building solutions for every industry, from offices, to complete school campuses, to multi-story medical centers, to state and national park visitor centers and ranger stations, to government and military structures and more. We are also a turnkey modular building contractor and a GSA Schedule Contract Holder GS-07F-0124W with the Federal Government.
Modular buildings, in addition to their other advantages, have green benefits that help you balance environmental concerns with cost. Modules are often constructed with recycled steel and sustainably sourced timber, making them strong, fire-resistant and mold-resistant. Modular buildings can compete in the same Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) categories as stick-built structures.
What is a Prefabricated Building?
The terms used to describe modular buildings can be confusing, and most people don’t understand the advantages of these prefabricated buildings.
A modular building is “prefabricated” in a factory in sections and then transported to the building site on flatbed trucks to be placed on a prepared foundation and assembled into a whole building.
Plumbing and electrical wiring are pre-installed, and quality control inspections are completed before the modules leave the factory at about 80% to 90% completion.
Modular buildings are designed for permanent placement but can be disassembled, relocated and reassembled over and over again in new locations while maintaining the same structural integrity as new buildings.
Prefabricated buildings are required to meet state and federal building codesand undergo regular inspections, just like any site-built building.
Prefab buildings are at least as safe as their site-built counterparts. Factory fabrication permits us to use superior quality building materials, and the modules are built in a controlled environment.
Delivery via the highway to the building site exposes prefabricated modules to high winds and vibrations, which means we construct them to be extremely structurally sound.
Today’s prefab buildings are as easily customizable as site-built buildings. While most manufacturers have a portfolio of plans to choose from, computer-assisted design (CAD) allows us to make unlimited customizations when planning your new modular building.
Modular buildings exceed most energy-code requirements and can satisfy your environmental requirements. They are LEED-certified, fire-resistant and mold-resistant. And factory construction reduces waste, noise, pollution, dust, and construction-related traffic on the construction site and significantly reduces overall construction time.
Factory construction decreases the fabrication time. Once the modules are completed and transported to the building site, the structure takes just one or two days to assemble on site.
With proper care and maintenance, prefabricated buildings can last as long as 50 years.
