Portable Workforce Housing

Portable Workforce Housing

Portable modular buildings can stretch tight budgets when the need for workforce housing seems like an insurmountable problem.  Modular Genius has the knowledge and skills to meet your unique needs.

Modular Genius, headquartered in Joppa, Maryland, is a turnkey modular building contractor. We specialize in high-quality design-to-occupancy modular buildings and have the knowledge and skills to work with your small- and large-scale space requirements, deadlines and budget challenges.

We manufacture modular buildings in a factory using the same materials as site-built buildings and abiding by the same building codes. Aesthetically, they can be designed to match the architecture of your surroundings.

Our wide range of services include architectural renderings, building foundations and site preparation, doors, windows and hardware, masonry, interior and exterior finishing, paving and landscaping, ramps and steps, and other elements such as temperature and sound control and handicapped accessibility.

Evidence of our expertise includes many Awards of Distinction from the Modular Building Institute for high-quality temporary and permanent projects we’ve completed in the past decade.

Modular Living Quarters

Modular barracks and dormitories can be permanent or relocatable and are a smart, fast way to expand.

Our standard floor plans have single and multi-room options with or without restrooms, kitchens, dining facilities, and showers. They can be equipped with ADA-compliant ramps and rails, complete fire and safety features, and special thermal and noise-reduction insulation materials.

They can also be placed on government land or in campgrounds to house scout troops, groups of hunters and fishermen, or for use as vacation cabins.

In private industry, our modular bunk houses are used for firefighting crews and oilfield/mining “man camps.” They come skid-mounted or with wheels and axles and can house anywhere from 20 to 1,000 workers. Delivery and installation are available to remote locations.

The Advantages of Modular Construction

  • Quick and Cost-Effective – Modular buildings are manufactured and ready for delivery and installation 40% faster than their site-built counterparts. A traditional construction project may take 12 months but can be completed in just six using modular construction. Modular construction also reduces design and construction costs by 20% to 40%.
  • High Quality –Every step of the modular construction process is precise, and there are regular quality inspections throughout. This virtually eliminates unexpected complications that often occur on site-built projects. Built of steel, concrete and wood, modular buildings are designed to last for many decades.
  • Flexible – Permanent modular buildings are designed to stay in one location, but they can be easily relocated or reconfigured onsite, or moved to another location for a totally different use. This flexibility extends the life of the buildings and eliminates the need to demolish and rebuild aging or outdated stick-built buildings.
  • Sustainable – Modular buildings are often constructed with recycled steel and sustainably sourced timber. Permanent modular construction usually results in a tighter building envelope, thereby increasing energy efficiency and improving indoor air quality, mold and fire resistance.
