Innovative Design Case Studies

Modular Genius’ innovative modular design for the 7,200 square foot Barrie School research learning lab in Silver Spring, MD, involved tall ceilings, moveable walls and lots of windows. It can be converted into large and small learning spaces or to a large lecture room, as needed. The eco-friendly structure was built from reclaimed materials and recycled post-consumer products, and includes non-toxic paints and an elaborate waste water management system. The project was completed in 121 days.

A two-story 7,300 square foot temporary fire house in Washington, D.C., required a rapid completion date but afforded very little working space on the very tight site. There is a full kitchen, gear lockers, an apparatus bay with medical storage, fitness room, and decontamination room with a shower base and eyewash station, roll-up doors that accommodate 3 engines, and a bunk house, locker rooms, and restrooms on the second floor. The design had to be 100% relocatable so it could be relocated to another project after five years.
