K9 Police Modular Kennel

Bensalem, PA

The Challenge

Bensalem Police Department needed to replace their aging CMU block building for their K-9 team. The existing building lacked the proper kennels, grooming, and training area needed for their K-9 officers and handlers. Their biggest concern determining the best construction methodology was site disruption and displacement of their K-9 team during construction. Bensalem Police, a member of the Keystone Purchasing Network, contacted Modular Genius. MGI provided a design build, turnkey solution to Bensalem Police Department. By using Permanent Modular Construction, Bensalem Police Department was able to reduce their construction schedule by roughly 50%.

The Solution

Modular Genius worked closely with Bensalem’s K-9 team on the design of the building to ensure it would meet the demanding requirements of caring for and training the K-9 officers. MGI put together qualified contractors to demolish the existing building and prepare the site for the new permanent modular. A perimeter stem wall foundation was constructed, and the new building was installed using a crane. Once it was on the foundation, MGI proceeded with the interior and exterior finishes, installing state of the art kennels, dog wash station, and outside kennels. Guillotine doors were installed to allow the K-9 officers to move from inside to the outside kennels without having the take the dogs out. The outside kennels, roof and walking area, allows the officers to work without having to worry about the weather. Utility connections, sidewalks, and concrete steps completed the project.
