Modular Government Swing Space

Washington, DC

The Challenge

A general contractor hired to renovate two buildings at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, DC had the task of not only the renovation, but also to provide swing space for employees in those buildings during construction. Modular Genius, Inc. was referred to provide the 4,320 sqft temporary modular building from another contractor after working with them on another project on the same military base.

The Solution

Modular Genius assisted the general contractor with developing the floor plan, building specifications, and scope of work for the project. MGI provided all new buildings and worked with the GC for the logistics of the installation, including site utilities (water, sewer and electrical). MGI organized the logistics and delivery of the modular units through the highly active, secure government facility. Connecting links were provided to tie the (6) modulars together, along with foundation tie downs, skirting, gutters and down spouts, handicap ramp and ADA/IBC steps. The leased modular buildings have smart panel siding, VCG walls, and VCT flooring. Modular Genius was also supplied a large portion of furniture used inside the building.
